We have received inquiries about the plasticizer used in the “MONO” eraser and so for our customer’s better understanding we would like to provide background information and our response.

The “MONO” eraser manufactured and sold by our company was reformulated to use “non-phthalic acid-based plasticizers” three years ago.”Phthalate Free” is displayed on the product. (See photo below)

The reason for changing the plasticizer is that for “MONO” erasers; which are sold in Europe, the United States, Asia, and other global markets and boast excellent eraser performance; the “European RoHS Directive” (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) regulations were tightened and phthalate ester plasticizers were added to the list of restricted substances. For this reason we started our own research on non-phthalate alternative plasticizers in 2015. As a result from the spring of 2018, we have been shipping products that do not use phthalic acid-based plasticizers.

Regarding the change of the plasticizer, as the performance of the eraser such as erasability, physical strength, usability, etc. weren’t compromised, an announcement was not made at that time. However in view of the recent inquiries, we wanted to report this background information to our customers.

Thank you for your continued patronage of the “MONO” eraser.
